I border the Holy Land and lie low in the earth,
So salty I can’t support most forms of birth.
Between Europe and Asia, I’m a passageway grand,
Linking two mighty seas with Bosphorus at hand.
Cradled by Italy, Greece, and more,
My waters once hosted ancient lore.
Cold and deep, I’m Norway’s pride,
With fjords and fish and currents wide.
Warm and blue with coral delight,
Islands and pirates once gave me fright.
I touch Russia and Iran’s side,
I’m landlocked but very wide.
Near Thailand’s shore I rest so calm,
Famous for islands and monsoon balm.
Between Korea and Japan I lie,
A sea of tension, yet scenic sky.
My name sounds red but I’m not blood,
Moses once walked through me in a flood.
I’m salty, vast, yet called a sea,
My shrinking shores are troubling me.
I lap against the Philippine shore,
Storms and typhoons — I’ve seen plenty more.
In the east of Spain I play and glide,
With Costa Brava on my side.
To the north of Turkey I dwell,
A stormy place with a fishy smell.
Near Australia I shimmer bright,
Great coral gardens fill me with light.
My waters hug Italy’s boot,
Tourists swim and lovers scoot.
A northern sea with icy charm,
My polar bears wander without alarm.
I’m wedged ‘tween Egypt and Jordan’s land,
Sunbathers love my golden sand.
East of islands where eagles soar,
I’m deep, I’m vast, with a trench at my core.
A Greek delight with stories old,
My blue waves sparkle, bold and cold.
My name is bright, like sky so free,
I separate Africa from the Arabian Sea.
In the Pacific, near PNG,
My waters hold much mystery.
I surround the Maldives in peace,
Tourists come for a sunny lease.
Near Vietnam’s coast I stay,
With dragon legends in my bay.
I’m icy, cold, and rarely seen,
I hug Siberia and stay quite mean.
With birds and seals along my tide,
I touch Canada’s chilly side.
