Road Marking—those familiar lines, arrows, and symbols painted on our streets—often go unnoticed in our daily commute. But what if they had a voice, a puzzle, or a secret message hidden in plain sight? Welcome to “Road Marking Riddles,” where the ordinary becomes intriguing.
Buckle up—it’s time to decode the road!
I divide the lanes so cars stay in line, I’m dashed or solid and work just fine.
You stop when you see me across your path, ignore me and you may face wrath.
I form two lines where walkers stride, helping them cross from side to side.
You’ll see me zigzag near a school, I warn you to slow and keep your cool.
When I’m solid, don’t overtake; I keep the roads safe for safety’s sake.
You may pass me when it’s clear, but don’t stay too long, stay in your gear.
I’m a yellow line down the center lane, I guide two ways through sun and rain.
I show where you can make a turn, obey my arrows or you might learn.
Though I’m painted, I say a lot — look both ways when I say stop.
I stretch like a ladder, white and neat, giving safe place for your feet.
Two lines side by side, both unbroken, means passing’s not even spoken.
I’m a line with dots, no mystery, used to guide you temporarily.
I sit by corners, yellow and bright, I tell you parking here isn’t right.
I’m painted in blue near the door, for those who need a little more.
I point forward, left or right, helping you move with all your might.
I circle and say slow down fast, I’m painted for roundabouts you just passed.
I’m made of chevrons, sharp and bold, guiding you where you must not hold.
At the junction, I form a ‘T’, my painted line keeps things orderly.
You’ll find me near bumps or hill, painted to say “drive with skill.”
Yellow and cross-hatched, I make a plea: don’t block the box, leave space for me.
I mark a spot with a single dash, so buses know where they can stash.
Though I look like a ladder that’s thin, I’m where bikes are meant to be in.
I’m often yellow, saying ‘no delay’, keep this area always clear, okay?
I draw the edge where road meets side, a guide at night when lights might hide.
